FAQs
Q. Is the green color on the sculpture a paint?
A. Actually, the green is a natural patina created by oxidizing the copper with an acid.
Q. Will the sculpture rust if used out of doors?
A. No. Copper will oxidize to a green patina, not rust as some other metals like iron or steel do. The patina actually acts as a protective coat.
Q. How heavy are the wall sculptures, and are there any “tricks” to hanging them?
A. Our largest wall pieces only weigh about 15 pounds; they employ a hanger ring on the point of balance, and can be hung on virtually any type of wall with one hanger.
Q. How do you clean the wall sculptures?
A. You can use a feather duster or the brush attachment with a vacuum cleaner.
Q. Can the wall sculptures be used outside?
A. Yes.
Q. Will the finish on the sculptures tarnish over time?
A. No. All of our sculptures, with the exception of the frogs, have been coated with a clear spray enamel to prevent tarnishing.
Q. Will you do custom work?
A. Absolutely.
Q. How do you get the red colors on the sculptures? Do you use paint?
A. The red colors are achieved by heating the copper until the metal is red-hot, and then it is quenched in room-temperature water. Other earth tones are achieved by heating the copper to various temperatures.
Q. How are the sculptures assembled?
A. We braze the copper and brass pieces together using a filler rod and an oxyacetylene torch.
Q. What is the usual delivery time for a sculpture I order?
A. Generally, we manage to ship items in a two to three week timeframe. Custom orders or large quantity orders may take more time.
Q. What type of warranty do you offer on your sculptures?
A. We like our customers to be pleased with the purchase and use of their hand-crafted sculpture/s. Call and let us know of any questions or concerns that you have.
